Can I Be Selfish for a Moment?

If you've been reading the local blogs or attending the daily lunch meetings, you know how sweet the UC singletrack has been. Yesterday was no exception. Yesterday’s lunch ride was exceptionally good because 14+/- riders attended. I believe that everyone’s trying to cram as many rides in as they can before the switch turns from [extended] Fall to Winter. I do believe our remaining quality rides are limited and that our riding season is near the end.

This leads me to what’s on my mind. I don’t want the snow to come. There, I said it. I know, I know. The resorts need the snow. People’s jobs depend on the snow. Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the snow. We need the snow pack for our water reserves. It’s really really hard to ski without the snow. The snow.

I would happily go without the snow if it meant I could ride year-round. Selfish?

After yesterday’s lunch ride, I had a new piece of car bling. Thanks Brad!

And speaking of CarboRocket, Mark is the winner of last week’s mega quiz. CarboRocket to you!

I'm with you. I'm clinging to the dirt riding this year. Not sure if it's because of the lost days due to the wet Spring or just pure selfishness.

But Mark didn't complete the quiz. What does Adam do? Does anyone know?

Riding in December makes me feel kind of like I am living in Northern California. I think it will be ending soon, and I will be sad.

Adam = film editor and web lackey. There.

I'm enjoying the dirt rides for as long as the snow stays away. I just hope that once it comes, it comes consistently. With as cold as it was riding at lunch today, I'm ready to get out on skis. Ricky, you need to get out with us this year.

Hey Ricky's Hub...I feel good here, like I'm family or something. Maybe we can hook up for a ride or something sometime.

I am with you on the snow man. I hate it. I wish we could just keep going through the year. These Lunch Meetings are a good thing. Maybe we should all buy snow shoes or something crazy like that...

Mark, close enough.

The problem with buying snowshoes is that you want to use them. So you head out into the snow and you love it. And so you start to use them more. But then you realize that after climbing up hills and through the trees that those very same hills sure would be fun to ski down, rather than walk. And so then you go out and buy skis.

So let me save you the time and the discovery process. Skip the snowshoes and go straight to the skis.

A few years ago Dug took me to BD and helped me get all the AT gear I could ever want. I’ve used it maybe a handful of times. I’ve enjoyed every excursion but still haven’t committed to it. In fact, it’s safe to say that I’ve used my AT gear more at the resorts than I have in the fresh. Maybe this is the Winter I get things going. Hey, perhaps we should plan a breakfast meeting and make this the first agenda item.
