Make or Not Make?

We made it up to the Champ on today’s corporate lunch ride. The Champ is a mean switchback about a mile above the Rock Pile (aka the Altar) on the Great Western trail in Provo [Utah] Canyon. It’s a tight right-hander on about a 25% incline that comes after 2,300 feet of climbing spread over four miles. The Champ decides who masters it and who doesn’t, not the riders. No doubt technical skills come into play but it’s ultimately up to the Champ.

Here’s Aaron. In the first picture you can see him beginning the Champ. In the second picture, well that’s where you [and the Champ] come into play…

Did the Champ let Aaron make it?

A MILE above the rock pile!?!? I could have sworn it was more like 10 miles above the rock pile. Or at least that's what it felt like.

Aaron are these the same switchbacks we rode during the frozen turkey 2 years ago?

Same trail, but I'm pretty sure we didn't make it that high on the Frozen Turkey. We need to revive that ride this year.
